Food and family are synonymous and memories are built more often in the kitchen than any other room in the house. As we recognize mothers on May 11, we are offered the opportunity to share a little bit of ourselves with you as we reminisce about days gone by.
Cookies played an important role in our family. My grandmother often brought ‘Playbox’ cookies as a gift for us and homemade oatmeal raisin cookies were a ‘must have’ favourite. It is not surprising that my first “foray” in to business was in setting up a stand at the Peterborough market on Saturdays to sell what I had slaved all week to prepare – cookies!
… and my first customer in the morning was my Mom – anxious to support and to ensure that I sold out before the day closed.
On Saturday, May 10, I look forward to celebrating with mothers and those who mother all of us and to treating you to a cookie or two from our favourite family recipes.
